Patricia I Wilson - New Zealand Artist
(1923 - 2021)
Patricia trained at the Dunedin School of Art contemporaneously with Colin McCahon and Doris Lusk under Gordon Tovey and Robert N Field. She taught art at the Dunedin School of Art and at several secondary Schools, including Stratford Technical High School, Southland Boys’ High School and Menzies College.
She enjoyed a broad range of painting, portraiture, life painting, landscape and abstract, and has designed some sculpture in stainless steel, her major commission being "The Blade of Grass", a kinetic piece outside the Invercargill Civic Centre.
In addition to painting, she has written and illustrated children's stories for television, The School Journal and some readers for Rarotongan children.
In 1984 Patricia received the Queen's Service Medal for public services to art and
education.
She has exhibited in several Art galleries in Invercargill, Gore, Dunedin, and Nelson.
Her preferred medium was oil.
